Malli rice, you might have heard the name of this ‘variety rice’ very often in the roadside shops for 30–40 rs. Not because of it is cheap, it is also because Malli rice is easy to prepare. Also, it has loads of green in it. Green equals healthy. It contains lots of benefits in it. You can impress your family, especially the kids. So, shall we dive into making this healthy recipe?
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups cooked rice
- 1 handful of coriander leaves
- 1 green chili
- Salt as needed
- 1/2 lemon
- 3 tsp oil
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp ghee
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 2 tsp urad dal
- Few cashew nuts or ground nuts
- curry leaves few
Malli sadsam cooking instructions:
- Add coriander leaves, green chili, little salt, lemon juice, 1 tbsp water and grind this into a smooth paste, keep it aside.
- For sautéing, add 3 tsp oil and 1 tsp ghee in a pan
- Add the mustard seeds, urad dal and red chili.
- Sauté this till the urad dal becomes golden brown.
- Add the cashew / Ground nuts and sauté till it gets roasted.
- Turn off and add the curry leaves.
- In a wide bowl, add the rice and 1 tsp sesame oil and salt.
- Add the coriander paste to the rice.
- Add this tempering – s6 – to the rice
- Mix well, gently and evenly without mashing the rice.
- Kothamalli | coriander | Mall rice is ready.
- Serve with kuutu or appalam or vadam.
